Vietnam Veterans Fountain (312) 744-663035 East Wacker Drive
This is a large, black granite oval pool that contains murky water to create a dark ominous effect. This fountain was constructed in 1982. It is dedicated to honor Chicago’s Vietnam Veterans. It includes figures of George Washington, Robert Morris and Haym Salomon.



Chicago History Museum (312) 642-46001601 North Clark Street
Formally known as the Chicago Historical Society, the Chicago History Museum was burnt down in the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. The Emancipation Proclamation was also lost in the fire in the museum. It was then re-built as a fireproof building. It has over 50,000 pieces and dates from the late 19th century to now. It is believed to be the second largest collection in the United States.


Harold Washington Library Center (312) 747-4300400 S. South State Street
This building has 756,640 square feet and was opened in October 7, 1991. It was in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest public library on the planet. A big mural in the library shows the events that Chicago has been through as a city, including the former mayor, a soldier, a lawyer, and the current mayor. It also features a 385- seat auditorium, an exhibit hall, a video theatre and meeting rooms.


John Hancock Observatory (312) 751-3681875 N. Michigan Avenue
This building is 110 stories high and was designed to sway 5-8 inches in winds up to 60 mph. It can also stand winds up to 132 mph. It is shaped like a wedge to give the illusion that it is taller than what it really is. You can look out and see Lake Michigan and can see a bit of Canada.


Magnificent Mile
Often referred to as The Mag Mile, this stretch of Chicago is portions of Michigan Avenue, extending to the Chicago River and to Oak Street. The district is adjacent from downtown. It is ideal for shopping since he has various types of retail. It also includes restaurants, hotels and several of the tallest buildings in the United States. On the Mag Mile holds Wrigley Building and the John Hancock Center.
